About Assbestos
Assbestos helps homeowners, buyers and renovators work out whether something might be asbestos, what to do about it, what it costs, and what the rules are where they live.
What's here
- Free tools: a could-it-be-asbestos checker, a testing and removal cost estimator and an asbestos rules lookup by state. They run in your browser, and your answers stay on your device.
- Guides to the materials where asbestos turns up in homes, testing, removal, disposal and health, summarized from the EPA, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the CDC's ATSDR, the National Cancer Institute, OSHA and state agencies. See our sources.
What we're not
We're not asbestos professionals, doctors or lawyers, and nothing here replaces a professional inspection, medical advice or legal advice. We don't take money from law firms, and we don't run lawsuit ads or lead forms.
How the site is funded
The tools and guides are free. Some pages link to contractor-quote services and products such as test kits; if you use one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The health page and the "I disturbed asbestos" page never carry offers or promotions. The site also promotes Moob, an app from the same company. See our affiliate disclosure.
The name
Yes, the name. Asbestos is serious; the spelling isn't. Everything on the site about safety and health is written straight and sourced.
Who runs it
Assbestos is published by Bopito LLC.
